Yooka-Laylee gets first official trailer

Solid proof that the team at Playtonic Games have been hard at work appeared this morning in the form of the first official trailer for Yooka-Laylee, a 3-D, open world platformer coming to Wii U Q1 2017.

The game is a spiritual successor of sorts to the beloved N64 classic Banjo-Kazooie, and the trailer is, of course, a stark reminder that the core of Playtonic Games is composed of veteran developers from the golden age of Rare. The new gameplay footage features power-ups, transformations, and collectibles galore. Much of the trailer seems to take place in what I imagine is the game’s first stage, and one noticeable feature of this locale are its numerous floating platforms and islands. Yooka and Laylee’s ability to glide is clearly going to be a well-used gameplay mechanic.
