The Yo-kai Watch franchise is set to invade the West, starting with the manga on November 3. The Nintendo 3DS game will follow shortly after on November 6. Additionally, Disney XD is going to be airing an animated series starting sometime “this fall,” and Hasbro is launching a toy line in January.
Apparently, Yo-kai Watch is huge in Japan. The medium-spanning concept was introduced by Level-5 in 2013. The developer released 3 Yo-kai Watch 2 games in Japan in 2014, and all three took up spots in the top 6 best-selling video games (console or handheld) in the region that year. The animated series has also proven to be a hit. Now Disney, Hasbro, Nintendo, and VIZ Media’s Perfect Square, who are handling the manga, have high hopes for the series’ success in North America.
More information on the upcoming 3DS game can be found on Nintendo’s site. What are your thoughts?
