Fans were outraged yesterday when they learned that the new Zelda game for Wii U will be delayed. Nintendo released a short video clip of series producer Eiji Aonuma explaining the decision.
It seems the possibilities that have opened up to the team thanks to the Wii U and the goal of an open world game are too ambitious to restrict to a 2015 release time frame. As Aonuma puts it, “new ideas have continued to spring forth.” Because of this, no new release window has been specified, not even a 2016 estimate.
I trust Nintendo to strive to make a great game for fans to experience. But could there be an underlying issue with the development of Zelda Wii U that Nintendo is keeping under wraps? In addition to announcing the delay, Aonuma also revealed his decision to not show the game at E3 this year in any form. The development may have undergone a drastic change in direction from what the team originally envisioned. But what do you think?
