Game of the Month Club – June 2016: Super Mario Land 2

Our long awaited Game of the Month Club reboot has finally arrived! During the month of June, we would love to see as many Nintendo fans as possible play Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins and share their impressions on Twitter using #NFGameClub.

To encourage lots of fan participation and involvement, we are happy to be offering players a chance to win a download code for Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse on Nintendo 3DS (compatible on North American systems only). You’ll have the chance to enter your name into the drawing multiple times by simply using #NFGameClub on Twitter at least once per week (Monday-Sunday), but don’t forget that the real goal is to beat Super Mario Land 2 by June 30! That said, we have determined that a good pace to set for yourself is to complete two “zones” each week for the remainder of the month. The 6 zones in the game can be tackled in whatever order the player decides, and they are followed by a final level and boss fight. Try to finish the game, but don’t worry if you are unable to do so; your entries for the giveaway will be counted regardless!

Super Mario Land 2 was originally suggested by Snoggycat on Twitter. After pitting it against SteamWord Heist, Whoa Dave!, Runbow, and Yoshi’s Woolly World in a preliminary vote, we decided that the clear contest was between it and Yoshi. During a second week of voting, Mario won Yoshi 30 – 25 votes. The game is available in most regions as a Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console download.

If you have any questions or concerns, send a tweet to myself (@HollyFellmeth) or Matt Desind (@OnlyMattDesind). Otherwise, we hope you have fun playing Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins and joining the discussion!
