An in-depth look at the legendaries, region, and people of Pokémon Sun and Moon appeared on the official Pokémon YouTube channel this morning.
Starting with the legendaries, a few details have been confirmed on Solgaleo of Pokémon Sun and Lunala of Pokémon Moon. The former is a psychic and steel type with the ability Full Metal Body, while the latter is a psychic and ghost type with the ability Shadow Shield. The trailer below also shows off Solgaleo’s “sunsteel strike” move and Lunala’s “moongeist beam” move.
After that, we get a peak at a detailed map of the Alola region, which is composed of several islands that contain mountains, forests, canyons, cities…you name it.
Finally, the major characters make an appearance. We have our hero, of course, chosen by the player as always, followed by Professor Kukui, whose name confirms the Alola region’s Hawaiian inspiration in my mind (the kukui or “candlenut” tree is the state tree of Hawaii). “Kukui’s mysterious assistant” Lillie comes next, and finally the energetic Hau (most likely your rival) bounces onto the scene. Oh, and your Pokédex is now a character, but I’ll leave that surprise for you to discover when you watch the trailer for yourself:
