The touchscreen on the Wii U GamePad, as well as some in-game tweaks, are set to make The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD the most user-friendly version of the Wii/GameCube masterpiece…or the most evil, depending on how you use the new features. Here’s what you can expect:
- The new Ghost Lantern item, which will glow if a Poe is in the area. This will help make the soul-collecting side quest a little more palatable.
- Hero Mode, which seems to be available from the start this time around. As expected, Link will take double damage in this mode, and enemies won’t drop hearts when they perish. Also, rupees won’t be returned to their chests if Link’s wallet is full.
- Expanded wallets that hold more rupees.
- The world map, inventory, and a button to instantly transform Link between human and wolf form, all conveniently located on the GamePad’s touchscreen.
- Easy access to Miiverse via the GamePad, as well as “dozens” of new Twilight Princess-inspired stamps hidden around the world of Hyrule.
- Off-TV play with the GamePad.
Apparently, “many more updates exist” in the game, but Nintendo hopes players will discover them on their own as “part of the fun.” Now what could that mean?
