New details on Nintendo Account, Miitomo, and My Nintendo emerge

Starting on February 17, fans will be able to sign up for Nintendo’s unified account service, Nintendo Account, using their e-mail address, social media accounts, or existing Nintendo Network I.D. This will “pre-register” them for Nintendo’s first mobile-exclusive app, Miitomo, which will run on both iOS and Android smart devices. Miitomo is set to launch in March, along with My Nintendo, the company’s new loyalty program, which replaces Club Nintendo.

Miitomo is a quirky social network starring Mii characters. With it, friends will be able to ask each other odd questions to get to know each other better “in a lighthearted and welcoming environment.”

As for My Nintendo, the company promises that “it is a more comprehensive service that rewards users for interacting with Nintendo products and services in a variety of ways.” These ways reportedly include purchasing games as well as simply accessing or playing games. Rewards will range from discounts to physical goodies.

At this time, Nintendo plans on releasing 5 mobile apps between now and March 2017. Does any of this news make you excited? Will you be trying Miitomo out next month?
