Nintendo Direct airing tomorrow, April 1st

You knew it had to be soon, especially after Nintendo recently announced the delay of Zelda Wii U: a Nintendo Direct will be airing tomorrow, April 1st, at 3:00 p.m. Pacific time.  You can catch it at the usual places:

The loveable folks at the Nintendo Treehouse will be providing another live stream directly after the broadcast, “featuring one of [Nintendo’s] spring releases.” My guess is the game in question is Splatoon, as it’s set to release this May, but who knows? It could be a game that previously had no release window, or something new entirely (doubtful, but you just can’t know when it comes to Nintendo).

The big question, though, is what Nintendo has up its sleeve to replace the highly-anticipated Zelda Wii U. As you know, the game was delayed when the developers realized the potential designing a true open world game could offer the series. This is great for Zelda Wii U, but not for the 2015 Wii U lineup. My guess is Nintendo will be showing off the first real trailer for Star Fox on Wii U, and a new Metroid game for Wii U will be announced. Star Fox is still set to release this year, but it would be hard for Nintendo to get a new Metroid game out by year’s end…unless they’ve been keeping the game’s development a secret until now. And I wouldn’t put that past Nintendo. If that’s not the case, however, I don’t see why Xenoblade Chronicles X can’t get a little more love as the Wii U’s huge, epic 2015 release. What do you think?
