Netflix might be “working closely with Nintendo” on a live-action Legend of Zelda show

Rumor has it Netflix will be producing a live-action Legend of Zelda series, and they’ve apparently been given the green light from Nintendo and everything.

The news comes from The Wall Street Journal, who insist “a person familiar with the matter” tipped them off. According to the WSJ article, Netflix is looking for a writer for the series, which will simply be about a young Link rescuing Princess Zelda and saving Hyrule. The article is careful to mention that “it’s…possible that Netflix or Nintendo will kill the project before it gets off the ground.”

Both Nintendo and Netflix have refused to release an official statement on the matter, so it remains, in a Nintendo spokesman’s words, “rumors and speculation.”
